Contact Oliver to discuss your building and lime pointing requirements.
Where appropriate, an on-site assessment will be arranged to understand the masonry, existing mortar, and scope of work before a clear quotation is provided.
2. Careful removal of incompatible pointing
All existing incompatible pointing is carefully removed by hand to avoid damage to the surrounding stone or brick.
Joints are raked back to sound bedding mortar, ensuring the new lime pointing can bond properly and perform as intended.
3. Lime mortar prepared by hand
Fresh lime mortar is mixed by hand using traditional methods.
Kibbled quicklime is slaked and combined with carefully selected aggregates to produce a mortar compatible with the historic masonry and original bedding materials.
4. Hand application and finishing
The new lime pointing is applied by hand and compacted carefully into the joints.
Joint profiles and finishes are chosen to suit the age and character of the building, ensuring the mortar remains breathable, sacrificial, and visually appropriate.
5. Final finishing and aftercare
Once the work is complete, final brushing and finishing are carried out as the mortar begins to cure.
Guidance on aftercare and ongoing maintenance is provided to support proper curing and long-term performance of the lime pointing.
